This second webinar takes you behind the scenes of textile hemp production, exploring the agronomic and technical steps that transform a crop into a high-quality long fibre. From seed selection and cultivation to harvesting, retting, baling and scutching, discover the expertise required at every stage of the value chain.

How does hemp fibre become yarn and then a textile?
Fibre preparation, spinning, process selection, technical adjustments, weaving… This new episode takes us behind the scenes of the expertise and innovation required to transform long hemp fibre into yarns and textiles suitable for fashion, accessories and interiors.
Through the work carried out as part of the Hemp4Circularity project, discover the technical challenges encountered, the trials conducted and the solutions developed to support the emergence of a local, circular European textile value chain.
The objective? To better understand the different stages
involved in processing hemp and the conditions required to unlock its full
textile and creative potential.

Episode 4 |Measuring to improve: understanding the environmental impact of textile hemp
How can we build reliable environmental data to support brands decisions and ecodesign ?
In this episode, we open the door to environmental impact assessment: Life Cycle Assessment aligned with the European Commission's Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) method, covering 16 impact categories from climate change to water use.
You'll discover how the Hemp4Circularity project has built a truly collective effort — one shared questionnaire, data covering 220 fields across France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany, between 2022 to 2024 — towards the objective to produce data representative of European hemp long fibre.
We also share the first findings of the pre-assessment: not the carbon footprint or PEF score yet, because good data takes time - but where the main impacts come from, how the ‘hotspots’ help direct future efforts.
Watch to understand the status to date and the next steps until the final, representative, PEF-compliant and externally reviewed results and their integration into databases that will serve brands needs for impact measurement and ecodesign.

Episode 5 | Shaping the future: building a high-performing european textile hemp sector
How can we achieve a strong and mature European hemp-for-textile sector ?
In the 5th and final episode of our Hemp4Circularity training series, "The Ambassadors of hemp for textile"', we bring together the project's key learnings and results along with the main levers for shaping the future of the sector.
H4C brought together expertise from across the entire value chain - from farmers and processors to brands and designers, creating a strong collective foundation for the future. In the first part of the webinar, we will present these key outcomes and insights.
The second part will focus on the ongoing work of Alliance for European Flax-Linen & Hemp, which is laying the foundations for impact measurement across the value chain and for certification of origin, two strategic priorities for brands and industrial players.
The webinar will conclude with the key levers to activate in order to scale up the European hemp-for-textile sector.
