Growing long-fibre textile hemp: advantages, characteristics and challenges

As part of the Interreg NWE Hemp4Circularity projet, which aims at implementing hemp in the textile value chain in North-West Europe, Lin et Chanvre Bio has realised a short explanatory video, to illustrate the technical aspects of long-fibre fibre hemp, from sowing to winding.

This video is the first of a series of three, and was shown at the Hemp4Circularity project's winter training sessions for growers and technicians.

The video is available in four languages: German, English, French and Dutch. It presents the agronomic advantages of textile hemp in a rotation and goes over all the stages in the technical itinerary for producing quality long fibres, in particular the importance of sowing and retting conditions. Just a reminder: a contract with a scutching company prior to sowing is essential for the production of long fibres!
